✦ STUDENT-LED, ONE ROUND AT A TIME

Every speech we give
sends a girl to school.

Speech and Debate students find sponsors who pledge a little for every round we compete. Like a walkathon, except the miles are NSDA points. Every dollar helps break the cycle of poverty by funding girls' education.

✓Donations go straight to Pratham USA, a 501(c)(3). Tax receipt arrives instantly.

How it works

Three steps, one tournament season.

1. Sign up and share

Make your own page in about five minutes, then send the link to family, neighbors and your group chat.

2. Sponsors pledge

They pick an amount per round, based on how many rounds you expect this season. Four sponsors is the goal.

3. Earn Service Hours

Every quarter we post NSDA points, dollars raised, and you earn 20 hours for every $100 raised. Earn more if you sign up to recruit members.

Where the money goes

Every dollar goes to Pratham.

$300 funds one girl through Pratham's Second Chance program: four months of foundational reading, math and science, then six months of tutoring toward her Grade 10 certification, plus life skills and career counseling.

We hold no money ourselves. Donations are made directly to Pratham USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which issues every donor a tax receipt.

Why we started

Debate taught me what a voice is worth.

I was seven the first time I went to India and met girls my age who weren’t in school. I didn’t have the words for it then. I just knew that the thing I took for granted had been quietly closed off to them. Debate gave me the words, and it taught me that an argument is only worth what it changes — and most of mine ended at the ballot. Speak for Her is how I make them count for something else. Every round I speak, a sponsor puts money toward a girl finishing her education through Pratham, which has helped more than 50,000 girls and women earn their Grade 10 certification. I get to use my voice for seven minutes at a time. She gets to use hers for the rest of her life.

Put a number on our next round.

Pledge per point or give once. Either way it reaches a girl who wants to stay in school and breaks the cycle of poverty.
